How does the ramp macro work?

If using a crestron controller, does the press have to activate the ramp and the release stop the ramp.

Or does the clearone have a way of stopping the ramp when released?

There are three distinct ramp command elements, one for volume up, one for volume down and one for stop.
1. The Ramp Up command. #D0 RAMP 12 O 3 20. This command will ramp up (an 880T with DID 0), from the current gain setting, on Output 12 at a rate of 3 dB per second until a target of 20 dB is reached.
2. The Ramp Down command. #D0 Ramp 12 O –3 –20. This command will ramp down, from the current gain setting, on Output 12 at a rate of 3 dB down per second until a target of –20 dB is reached.
3. The Ramp Stop command. #D0 RAMP 12 O 0. This command, with the rate of 0, will stop the ramp up or ramp down on Output 12. The ramp stop command can be issued any time to stop the ramp up or down before the target is reached.

In applications such as stereo audio where multiple channels need to ramp simultaneously the programming will be different than in a single channel system. The same command strings are used for volume control only they are programmed in the Macro Editor in Converge Console (or in G-Ware for XAP systems). This allows you to write the multiple command strings in one macro and then program your controller to call the macro with the proper command strings in it.
With a multi-channel ramp command each macro will contain two lines. Macro 1 will have the commands #D0 RAMP 11 O 3 20 and #D0 RAMP 12 O 3 20. Macro 2 will have commands #D0 RAMP 11 O –3 –20 and #D0 RAMP 12 O –3 –20. Macro 3 will have commands #D0 RAMP 11 O 0 and #50 RAMP 12 O 0. These macros will ramp outputs 11 and 12 at the same time.

In your controller you would then program the volume up button to send the ramp up command or macro when pressed, and the ramp stop command or macro when released. Volume down button would work the same, using the ramp down and ramp stop commands or macros. Note that the ramping with stop automatically if the level reaches the target value (20 or -20 in the above example) or the hardware maximum.

FYI the modules for all Clearone products on Crestron's website work
perfectly. Its not a good idea to ramp a input level, send it to a process bus for ramping.
